Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile page. I am Dr. Jennifer Swanson, psychologist, AFAA certified personal trainer and owner of Fitness N Mind, LLC. It is truly a blessing to be included among the caring, innovative healthcare professionals at Authentic. I am honored and grateful to offer mental health and wellness services to Authentic families as well as our greater community.
I earned a B.S. in psychology from Carroll University in 1993, an M.S. in educational psychology from UW Milwaukee in 1997, and an Ed.D. in counseling psychology from Argosy University in 2016. I have worked as a school counselor, a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, stay-at-home mom and psychologist over the course of my career! In 2017, I started Fitness N Mind, LLC to share a unique and transformative mind-body experience. I am passionate about teaching people how exercise boosts the brains potential for growth. When exercise and psychotherapy are combined during a Fitness N Mind session it may be possible to reach therapeutic goals more effectively. Many of my clients stated their sessions were a powerful experience and noticed immediate improvement in their negative self-talk. Additionally, I educate clients on the brain-gut connection and if desired can guide them to wholefoods and supplements shown to support mental health.
I live an active, fulfilling life with my two teenage daughters and Golden Retriever Maggi. I enjoy singing in the contemporary choir at church, leading a DivorceCare support group, plus volunteering for Parent Network as a parent educator and suicide prevention trainer.
I believe that pregnancy opens an opportunity for great emotional growth, yet there can also be unexpected, worrisome feelings for both moms and dads. When needed, I offer a caring space for people to explore their concerns. I listen carefully and work with my clients to identify their strengths, explore new perspectives, strengthen relationships and develop personalized goals. I am passionate about empowering people to create purposeful, satisfying lives.
